Introduction

The Department of Human Resources Management and Development is still working on the structure for the Ministry.  The proposed structure is perceived to consist of the Department of Civic Education, Department of National Unity, The Policy and Planning Unit and the Administration and Support Services.

To create a conducive environment for civic empowerment of citizens and promote sustainable peace and unity for national development.

A knowledgeable, peaceful and united society.

Mission

To coordinate and regulate civic education services and promote national peace and unity through the enforcement of civic education policies, promotion of shared public interests and values and supporting collaborative peace building and conflict management interventions for national development.

strategic Objectives

The Ministry has determined three strategic objectives which are tangible reflections of its mandate and vision. The strategic outcomes and their expected targets constitute the strategic direction that the Ministry will take. These are as follows:

• Improved civic knowledge and coordination of civic education services;

• Enhanced national unity, patriotism and peaceful coexistence among Malawians; and

• Improved institutional capacity and organizational efficiency of the Ministry.
