Department of Civic Education
The Department of Civic Education was instituted in 2007 to educate the citizenry on various socio and economic issues with the aim of imparting knowledge and influencing positive behavior and mindset change.
The department coordinates and employs various communication interventions to enhance and influence a positive behavior change in order to create an informed, knowledgeable, and proactive nation.
The Department coordinates the provision of civic knowledge, management and coordination of civic education programmes through the following functions:
- Provision of policy guidance in civic education matters
- Educating the citizenry on government development policies and programmes
- Educating the citizenry on various topical and emerging issues
- Creation of popular support for government development agenda
- Promotion of popular participation in development and democratic processes.
